The End of the Summer
With the start of my senior year looming, it’s a large, scary, and exciting shadow on me. It’s fun to reflect on all the ways the summer internship with ScoreVision has prepared us to be successful. It created an opportunity for us to learn a lot about ourselves - not only did it help us identify what type of work we enjoy and where our strengths are, it’s likely more important that it helped expose our weaknesses.
Since May we’ve been learning about ScoreVision and the ins and outs of their software and jumbotron displays. We were also lucky enough to get real, career experience in many facets of business, marketing and software development. The four Hastings College Interns all brought a different background and area of study to the table, and the leaders at ScoreVision purposely utilized our skills and backgrounds in very different ways. For me, that was marketing, social media, and journalism, so I spent the summer working with Shane Piper, VP of Sales. We created a Social Media Plan, which included outlining a complete social media strategy and calendar. I was put in charge of a small team that created social media and blog content, and participated in writing and editing content myself. Finally I worked with Wordpress and Concrete to help update and expand the website.
